Man the uke shouldve just tell him the truth,,, i mean the spies were indeed spies it wasnt like they were in a wrong a situation at the wrong time (unlike the little maid girl) and if they were to be executed i think thats justified (bc ,,spy) plus he couldve easily gotten rid of the rapist bro ,,,, i cant wrap my head around the fact that this is the reason for the whole fucked up cycle. I was waiting for some dramatic ass reason but this.

Well, he probably thinks the emperor won't trust him. You also need to take into account that there's bad blood between the emperor & the five noble families where he is from. The emperor may have fancied him, but his view on the rest of his clan still has not changed. And the five noble families also has simmering hostility toward the emperor. Though untrue, all that talks about plotting treason/rebellion is very real possibility, and the elimination of the entire clan could result from that. Driven to a corner like that, wouldn't it be better for Heun to just shut his mouth & let the emperor come to a conclusion that he had a tryst at the construction site? It's never easy with court politics, & when your family being put on the line, that's even harder.

Yup. I agree. He should've said he was being forced. But then again, he had his pride. He never told his own family about what his brother did to him. I feel he should've told it all. His whole life could've been different. But then again I guess he didn't understand the depth of what was going to happen due to not telling the truth.
