Nah you are lol she literally got "blessed" heal (you can go back and see light spirit say she give something in return for her troubles and gave her the power to heal) . From the light spirit. Main lead's body is affected by the dark spirits blessings so he looks more like him,. When she was blessed by the light spirit her skin changed not her hair. It still stayed black to show her original blessings. Plus I bet she was supposed to be fair skinned anyway if it weren't for her blessings.
The story wasn't even about racism it was discrimination over her blessings being from the "most dangerous" spirit King. People thought if they angered her the entire city would plummet into darkness and actively stayed away from her.

How was she whitewashed when a. The story is based in a fictional European style country where literally everyone is white.b. She's supposed to be white. Again she got blessed by dark spirit, skin matches her new found blessings as a symbol. Whitewashed... Lolololol she is technically the same race as her parents. The character wasn't replaced with an alternative better race, she literally is still her. Her skin changed.
