It's not about that. I think it has to do with how good he is. He said it was just his hobby to cook yet he's so good at it that he was even in a contest without previous competition records. Imagine if you were the other guy. You worked so hard to improve your cooking, you spent money, probably taken classes and other things just to be good at cooking, enough to be recognized. Then a newcomer with outstanding talent for cooking came in and said that it was just his hobby to cook and he didn't really worked to be at the top of chefs. How would you feel? It's like he's saying that he didn't put that much effort to be good at cooking, yet he's so good that others were put to shame with how good he is. It's like walking all over others efforts to improve. Like, it didn't matter.
I'm not saying that was what the MC meant, but that was what the other guy probably thought. I too, think that it was a little insensitive to outright say that. He could have said that he has another profession or job that he really wanted or that he's not yet sure if what he wants to become. It's a little vague, but at least it won't be misunderstood.
Idk why you guys dissatisfied with the MC saying cooking is his hobby. Its his luck to be famous for his hobby. Well some people also open a restaurant because its their hobby to cook for people. Well the other guy work for it because he want to, so i also cant blame him tho cause he choose this profession.
Its like youre working, u are working in IT company because you have to. But some certain people working in IT because he like to. So since he like, he have more knowledge since he like it through and through
