I also wanna yell to ppl who oppose this cute cp,it's so clear that they absolutely have the feeling towards each other, it's just they like fighting against each other to improve and understand the others. The author creates this both adventure and romance as the same time, so their love-hate relationship like this is understandable and have nothing wrong!!!
Well it is their opinion and I wouldn't want to force this kind of romance trope down their throats if they clearly don't like it~ I personally like their dynamic
Usui is a gentleman though, he is never violent to Misaki unless she wants a fight. Kei Takishima is just as the same as Usui. He might tease Hikari a lot but he knows the line. I don't know the other shoujos you've mentioned.
Anyways, this has fantasy plot. Using your powers to hurt the girl you like is a big turn off.

I mean... this is basically how “SPECIAL A” and “MAID-SAMA!” plot is...
Alves & Nunnaly relationship is basically Usui & Misaki relationship, and Kei & Hikari.
Or if I wanna stretch it out, it would be Natsume & Mikan from “GAKUEN ALICE” or maybe Akito & Sana from “KODOCHA”...
If you think Alves & Nunnaly romance development is not good & no chemistry because they mostly fight while you guys don’t even look at all small details from Alves act...
Then you guys who complained about that, should be people who don’t like the romance in “SPECIAL A”, “MAID-SAMA!”, “GAKUEN ALICE”, “KODOCHA”, and many more of similar plot...
