Your speculation on the earl is spot on. Piecing out what we know so far the earl went mad after killing his other self/brother (nea). Mana is just the earl without his memories and allen somehow is the incarnation of nea. I'm really excited for when we'll get more info about the back story of the noah and innocence. God I'm so glad this is getting updates again.

this is purely speculation but i do think the earl split into 2 parts (mana and nea) and mana or earl at the moment did something bad and killed his brother but he was so upset by this he buried his memories of who he is and thats why hes always "i hate mana this or mana did that" but really hes talking about himself. also when it comes to allen its still a mystery cause hes supposed to be a lot older but was a kid when he met mana
