Not all but most of the recent tensions between Japan and South Korea is due to Japan's refusal to apologize about "Comfort Women". If you don't know, comfort women were essentially young girls and women forced into sexual slavery by Imperial Japanese Army before and during WWII. Most comfort women are old now so SK government is pushing for apologies before the last of the women die.
If this becomes an anime, it would be so damn popular
