They might as well label this as shoujou genre? They shouldn't come up with shoujou scenes between two men and call it yaoi. Seriously, we were talking policeman and mafia. Where's the oomf it deserves?? Just became shoujou soap opera! There are many reasons I read yaoi, and escaping from scenes like this is one of them.

What? It’s literally just building romance and development with the characters. The line is thin between fetishizing boo..

While their wording may come across as sexist I get the gist of what they’re saying. It’s the atmosphere of the plot is reminiscent of a cliched shoju given the pace of the plot and very little character personality to warrant such fast head over heals response. Granted this could be said of any romantic centered plot in general, that’s really what they should have said, not that the default comparison to heteronormativity. That would suggest queer relationships must be riddled with angst and drama to differentiate themselves from heterosexual relationships which then would be fetishizing and objectifying as you’ve stated. Not every lgbt+ is the same some are plain vanilla and others more thrilling but they’re all valid experiences. I just personally find this plot boring because of the bland characters, but that’s just a personal taste.
