(i'm guessing it's because it seems like teacher is already in hot water at school with the way everyone treats him and all, so this might make him look bad ? or maybe he knew a bit about the student and feels horrible that the kid is dropping out ?)
and heejoo is his cousin who was adopted. this is clarified in future chapters !
