I agree about the watered down version but in the fl's defense, she was abused and isolated almost all her life, which probably affected her mental age.

She was caged and locked in the count's house so probably she didn't get proper etiquette. Her actions and personality must be caused by trauma and she basically didn't interact with other people in her past life so its understandable that she's not used to unfamiliar persons she just met.
