exactly. I used to be confused too by how it was seen as a slur. I'm a gay guy and just thought it was part of our culture, a term if you will. But multiple trans women told me its a slur and if multiple different women have stressed why its a slur and how it has affected them I will just stop using it. I'm not about to speak over trans women, one of the most hatecrimed groups. Use rose boy instead, there is no negative connotation and is not a slur

bruh femboy refers to anybody who identifies as such. it isn't an insult in the lgbtq+ community. It's literally how people can identify themselves. It's also a reclaimed word, like queer.
from dictionary.com: "femboy also came to be adopted as a self-descriptor for guys who tend toward presenting feminine for non-sexual purposes. These persons adopt femininity as a form of everyday gender expression, donning a conventionally feminine aesthetic by wearing makeup or feminine clothing, for example. Though effeminate guys are often stereotyped as gay, being a femboy isnāt necessarily tied to any sexual orientation."

TL;DR femboy doesn't have to do with transfolk unless they identify as being as such.
that's it, really. it's a simple concept.

I appreciate you sourcing things but If a trans woman tells you "Hey, this is a slur against trans women" just don't say it...the fact that people so desperately want it in their vocabulary raises concern. I used to think it wasn't a slur either but many trans women are called that and its seen as insensitive to speak over them. People who aren't called it in a derogatory fashion CAN NOT reclaim it. It is not a blanket term, it is primarily used to invalidate trans women. Please just take it from these people who are actually effected by it. Use the term "rose boy" instead, it rolls of the tongue just as well and has no negative connotation behind it so you don't have to worry about using it. Be content with the slurs you CAN reclaim, its not Pokemon because you don't need to "catch em all".

it does have a background, so I do understand their point. It was originally a term used to mock men for being feminine, which could have also indicated that they were gay or in fact transgender women. But at the same time... I've never heard it being used in this day and age to be used in a derogatory fashion. People genuinely use it to describe themselves, so just calling it a slur feels like it's minimizing the identities of those identifying as femboys. It feels like a totally grey area in all honesty. If a trans woman believes it to be offensive, then in that case I'd understand, but if it's not being used against her then I don't see the problem.

dude it literally does....do your research. You are actively being transphobic towards MTF, you can be transphobic even if you're trans, I mean look at Kalvin Garrah. Its really gross how desperate you are to use something thats offensive. If you wanna have a further discussion dm me on Instagram @baraboy420, who knows maybe we'll even work it out and get along. I'm getting tired of this fight now, sorry for starting it.
