Also you gotta rmbr yunifer is seeing this whole situation as jus a book shes read. She still thinks that ishid is ultimatly gonna love rael n raels gonna be the one to get him stable. She feels like shes just a passerby in his life n is also subconsciously trying to protect her heart by not getting too attached.

I forgot to add that no one is obliged to give a reason they dont wanna be friends. Ye it sucks not knowing but honestly its not like someone haaas to give a reason. Also ofc yunifer listens now, shes a doctor so shes gotta listen to patients n shes kinda been forced into situations where she has to be around n coverse w rael. So she is being consistant in her avoidence (gives minimum interaction n help) and at this point i think raels the wierd one for being so obsessive. you’re right, she’s not obliged to give her a reason but if rael is still approaching her after all the ignoring and avoiding then you would think she’d give her a reason if it bothers her so much. if saying and doing nothing hasn't worked then that means change it up. if she gave rael and reason an explicitly told her to leave her alone and she didn't i would be annoyed too but she hasn't, she just kind of avoids problems and hopes for the best, half assing her interactions with rael only ends up fuelling raels obsession with her which is frustrating to read
i do think this is all on purpose though and im curious to see how things with this trio will go
im not entirely blaming yunnifer though she didnt ask to be stuck between two crazys and it rakes two to tango (three i guess?) its just everyone else has already torn rael apart in the comments i thought ‘hey why not look at things from another perspective’ yknow

i think it might just be me frustrated again at one of these villainess protags that don't realize they’ve already changed the story beyond repair, she probably does feel disconnected from it all but that might end up blowing up in her face and i’d rather that not happen to her
You have to remember, Yunifer knows how she'll end up if she gets involved *specifically* with Rael. The Yunifer from the book DIED. It's most likely that she wanted to immediately sever their connection when they were still in school because of that. ANY involvement with Rael back then could have led to Yunifer's eventual early death (sort of like the butterfly effect) and that can also include giving closure and explaining to Rael why she didn't want to become friends.
Also, she DID make up an excuse to Rael when Rael asked her why she changed rooms, but Rael mumbled something like "but you're not even close to that person (Yunifer's new roommate)". This made me think that Rael was unwilling to accept whatever Yunifer's excuse was unless it was specifically about her because she was already convinced that it was her fault. But that's the thing though--Rael did nothing wrong and it's not like Yunifer can go around making up things about Rael to justify her coldness towards her, considering it was her mistreatment of Rael in the original book that led to her demise. So I understand why Yunifer chose to do (or not do) those things to Rael. I get that it looked harsh from Rael's perspective but ignoring her was the safest and best choice at that time for Yunifer's self-preservation.
I tried to look at it from Rael's perspective and I truly do understand why she's upset but her way of looking for closure is just so weird.
i feel like yunnifer, if she doesn't want to be friends with rael should just be clear with her, she should’ve been clear with her during the school times instead of pretending she didnt exist because rael trying to figure out why yunnifer is so distant with her is fuelling her obsession she wants closure.
i like yunnifer in everything except how she deals with rael and ishids obsession, its like she’s being ignorant on purpose, she can see ishids obsessive side and she can see how rael wants answers but just does nothing about them hoping everything will just turn out fine. if she doesn’t want rael on her case then introduce her to new people, say “hey i’m sorry i avoided you in school but sorry i just dont want to be friends with you” or something, come up with a reason for her so she gets closure and leaves her alone
but if she DOES want to be friends with rael then like,,,, don’t be so half assed about it and actually /be/ her friend, she already changed the original story to the point where ishid is obsessed with her to an unhealthy degree there should be no problem
alot of people in these comments dont seem to realize that all rael probably wants is answers and closure, yunnifer avoided her so harshly and publicly for no reason all throughout school which would make anyone feel like shit and then rael ended up in a toxic abusive relationship right after which would mess with her mentally even more, yunnifer listened to her problems and understood her /now/ but that doesn’t explain the school stuff
and then when it comes to ishid it feels like she doesn’t realize how deeply he’s obsessed with her even after all the worrying stuff he’s done. i get it, you guys love him because hes hot with a sad backstory, i like him too but whats going to happen if yunnifer /isn’t/ there? hes going to implode, he’s already furiously mad at rael for what is essentially nothing (wanting to be yunnifer’s friend?? breathing???) to the point where people around him can see him fuming. something needs to change eventually
