Sexual assault like that is viewed very differently in China. Even if she’s saying kill me or no, it will most likely have an impact on her and people will not believe that she didn’t ask for it and it was non-consensual.
Even here in the states we still have people who blame the victims and say she was asking for it etc.
That’s valid but again, she would have a case to the police, her husband is also willing to believe in her and she clearly has a support system. But then he would either have to kill her or go on to bribe the police so the story could have continued there.
Just because her husband believes her does not mean the police will. She already knows this asshole is high up and has connections to very important people. It would not be a surprise if she reported it to the police, the police swept it under the rug, and she put her husband and parents in danger.
Coming out as a victim of sexual assault is never easy - it’s easy for us as bystanders to say she has a case but it’s never easy for the victim. She would be putting herself out in the public eye, be scorned by society, and damage not only her reputation in society but also her family’s reputation in society.
Man, idk why those kinds of sex tapes are seen as like? Bad- you just recorded yourself committing a crime and she is almost screaming “this isn’t consensual”. If you sent that out, sure, embarrassing for her, but that’s a shit ton of proof against him and could put him in jail, but also plot exists and needs to be furthered. She’s a really strong protagonist but after reading some spoilers, I just feel angry (nothing that she did wrong)
