Why it wont work?
Sakai loves Nishimura and Kitada:
Sakai never confessed to Nishi but really loves him. We don't know why but we just know that he really fell in love with his best friend from school.
Sakai found physical and emotional support in Kitada for 10yrs. After never confessing to Nishi. Kitada gave him the freedom to be himself.

Kitada loves and cares for Sakai. They actually shared more things as a couple in those 10yrs... physically and emotionally than Sakai ever did with Nishi. They are very much sexually compatible. But sadly Sakai loves more Nishimura.
Kitada knows more about Nishi than Nishi himself after listening to Sakai stories for 10yrs. So I don't think he cares much for him. He just stands him cause he just knows Nishi is the one Sakai really loves.
Sigh! RUN Kitada!

Nishimura Is now discovering and acepting this new side of Sakai. Sakai as a lover. He is trying to be more honest with Sakai and acept his feelings for him.
Nishimura doesn't like Kitada that much but is trying to deal with the relationship Sakai and Kitada have. I think he will always be insecure of it and feel left out cause he hasn't been emotionally connected to Sakai the way Kitada is. He will need Kitada assistance to understand Sakai.
I don't think the 3 of them will work together on the long run.
i feel like they are just trying to understand where they all stand in the relationship and make it work. In the end Sakai in the end became kind of cruel and selfish. He kept both of the guys.
He said at the end: "The two of you even though I'm like this, for staying by my side... sorry, thank you."
