Its worth it cause if the empress dies the seat is empty then only she has a chance to dominate the emperors affection which is very tactically twisted to only favour her and elevate her status even more. Little acting is fine if you can have all the power. And be a lady of standing. The empress is always a threat to a white lotus. Even if she is very kind.

Her feelings were genuine. She did originally liked the empress. Lyn just didn't realize she had romantic feelings for the emperor until the she sees the emperor developing feelings for the empress.
