chapter 39

What kind of betrayal is Asami talking about ?
I mean if it's Aki sleeping with others well... Unfortunately it has already happened (I know, it was rape !) and Asami also said: "it'll we a pain if you damage my goods [...] so do as you like"
so I guess he's not that much of a threat for Asami's business either
Do you have any idea ?

Maybe it is obvious... (.______. ;)

Probably if he gives up any side info on Asami's businesses - which he probably won't do.

The book translation is WAY different: "... it would be problematic if anything detrimental were to happen to my men... but you probably won't act in any way other than you see fit...

"If that is the case, do as you please..."

"However, if you betray me..." That one has always confused me too, but if you put the whole thing together, it kind of sounds he means "if you damage/hurt me..." but I don't know if he means by bringing his criminal activities to light, or by putting him aside for another lover. Or it could mean both.

I took it as Asami knowing that Akihito's work is sometimes opposed to his own, but he's confident that nothing Akihito could inadvertently do would harm him significantly, hence "it'll be a pain/problematic."

But "However, if you betray me..." I think he's referring to Akihito doing something to deliberately, knowingly hurt him or bring him down, such as turning in evidence or working with someone against him.
