I completely agree with you. I seriously don't understand why people are letting the Duke off the hook and kept getting annoyed at Ripley ╮(￣▽￣)╭

The duke threatened to kill her and implicate her family multiple times so that she will marry him. It's understandable why the duke wants to cling on to her considering that he sees her as his salvation or smthng. But Ripley also in her past life has been traumatized and is afraid of experiencing the same thing again. She was seen as someone who got in between her friend and boyfriend's relationship. She thinks that if she will marry ir have a relationship with the duke, she will go in between him and the fl and face the discrimination again. Another thing, just because the duke is handsome doesn't mean he gets a free pass from threatening her. I fear we are overlooking an important aspect here guys. If the duke was an ugly man in his 50's, how would you react? I mean just saying. Okay chow peace
