I dont feel the need to hate Shin because from his point of view, if both him & the king became selfish, the kingdom will suffer in a sense that their connections, its advisors and the people will doubt the King's behavior & will think that he is not fit for ruling the kingdom. Shin is being selfless by not keeping the King all to himself knowing that it will cause chaos & will eventually hurt the King. He loves the King so much that he does not want people to doubt the King's love, power & ability to rule over the kingdom amd its people. It's true that they can face anything together, but for Shin, there is nothing more important than the King's name, dignity & love for the people, and he cannot bring himself (yet) to sacrifice all that just for his own desires, because he loves the King so much, and it shows. Love is not all about being brave about it anyway, it requires some sacrifices sometimes, just like how Shin sacrifices his love.
