At a guess, since the seme mostly had casual relationships, he didn't know that many who were interested in a serious one, so asked some of his 'friends' or a bartender at a gay bar about the situation making him the middle middle man, if he just relayed info between the uke to give to his friend and who ever found the match to give to the teacher, he would have never met them before
i think the teacher is a trusted friend of the older brother's trusted friend so maybe that's why they didn't know each other
