Well I went back and kinda did skin reading but everytime the other chick showed up I didn't see the prince around or maybe it's supposed to be like off behind the scenes they hang out but mmm idk his character still looks really de eww play hurt by it. I think the duke is wavering because he knows Rosa is waiting for him inside her house (she is not in academy yet) and had spent time together... But I guess, since heroine arrived.. As a capture target.. The duke fell in love with heroine

But the prince is just helping Rosa with breaking off an engagement...

For me, I think he just thinks of her as a precious childhood friend. That's why he couldn't bring himself to hurt her right away. It's guilt that's trapping him but not romantic love.
