I believe she practiced martial art also because in her modern world acting they tend to teach martial arts when they act for historic movies or drama.. But regarding the other thing.. Yeah in that Chinese comic where she is a make up artist but know wood crafting is something not to be understood.. Like she don't have a talent for it in the beginning and was focused on makeup only.. Strangely enough she created a wooden bird flying around or made a wooden gun... Like it doesn't make sense.. While acting it's required to practice martial arts when acting in China.
