Actually its considered sniping if another group or person posts a chapter of a manhwa thats already being translated by a group. Its heavily looked down in the translation community that posts their translations on manga websites like mangadex. Although on IG its free game. The IG translation community is very different from the mangasite community mainly because people who upload on mangasites usually work in groups and use real korean speakers and clean/redraw so they spend a lot more time on their manhwa chapters. Thats why when someone snipes them its very discouraging. But on IG usually one or two ppl work on a chapter and they prioritize quantity over quality. Thats why there’s usually no fighting if someone else uploads the same chapter. So if this happened on a mangasite I understand why PNS would be mad (but I dont think they handled the situation well), but if this happened on ig then they’re just bugging .
I am only an observer of other fights like this. When there were other things here on mangago, like this it mostly ends with the original translation team dropping it, or other things, but thats usually after a fight of messages between them. There are even fans of the mangas who will curse at the snipper since them snipping means mostly lower quality and unenjoyable works. However those fights are not over just one or two chapters but dozans of chapters. Even then they will try to talk. Not like this where they wrote a message and then blocking not even leaving a possibility of negotaitions. If AF only uploaded two chapters then it was not that big of a deal in my oppinion even more if she stated it that she only wants to do this much. But this is just my oppinion, and I am a pretty forgiving person so maybe I am not the best example. But it may have been better to speak with the other translation group first before posting it. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
I thought it was usual since I also see some manga being scanlated by more than one team (and I'mnot referring to collabs), but I guess not

i see. For me i think the PNS are too much to suddenly dropped this. i mean they don't even try to read the side of AF. But, the wrong doing of AF is she/he suddenly upload not having a permission first ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ If it were me i'll feel also betrayed?

seeing as i opened this on a whim for lols so i'm not attached at all imma give my unbiased opinion: pns are being little babies. i'm the type who is usually in comments like /yo plz don't snipe/ but that's only if it's ACTUAL sniping. which imo is defined as actually intending to steal the series from a group and not just post 1 chapter (i don't think you can even count the promo as a chapter so it feels even more petty to me). I see many cases where a rando fan reader is like /so i was working on this/ or /i really love this and wanted to try my hand at 1 chapter for everyone to reader sooner/ or /since the scan team hasn't released in eons i will drop 1 or 2 chapters/ and no one ever has an issue with that and are generally quite grateful. the fact that pns had hard to understand ass translations, threw a lil binch fit, blocked af and tried to make people dislike them by 'dropping' the project.....like.....are yall a group of 15 year olds or something???? why are you reading smut children???? you go ahead and drop it then and go read some r13 content. it seems like they would have served the censored version anyways so no one should really miss them~
So apparently, the group doing this dropped the project. I'll just call them PNS (the group) and AF (the solo) because I'm too lazy to type them. I kinda know the situation because I dmed AF myself.
So last week, PNS uploaded a prologue chapter, right?
Then a few days later AF also uploaded the prologue (but R18 version) and chapter 1. AF stated that she only will upload until chapter 1 and will be leaving the rest to the scans group, or PNS. She only uploaded for fun because of the Totem hype.
Then, PNS dmed her asking why she translated even though they're already working on it. AF wanted to reply but she can't because they blocked her and she couldn't reply, so she took it to the comments and apologized if she made PNS misunderstand, and made it clear that she wasn't planning to steal their project. But then PNS replied and said they're dropping the project and left AF with a "good luck".
What are your opinions on this, guys? I'm a silent reader usually but this was too much.
Imo PNS was being too petty on this matter. It's not like no one else can take the project except them, you know? I'm also a reader at IG and the translators there support one another even if they're translating the same series.
I had no idea the real world was this toxic orz
