it's from a convenience store security camera, not from the car park
they imply that he went to a convenience store across the road to see if their camera caught anything in the parking lot of the fancy place where it happened. this is because how theyre designed means that security cameras will capture an entire street even if its owned by one residence/store etc. that meant if he couldn't get footage from the party place he could try somewhere nearby.
