It might be that she is half human and half some other creature..... We only know that her father was the king and no idea of her mother except that she was a maid..... Maybe her mother was something else which allows Cecil to be different from other human as she might be mix and those maid can be her delusion or they might be someone who are only seen by Cecil and they cared and protected her in that castle.
My best guess is that she might've conjured up the maids out of her own imagination. Without getting into fantasy/magical explanation the best way to explain the maids is that they were created by Cecile. Imagine living in an abandoned castle all on your own, that fucks sup with you in some way or another. Cecile might have dealt with the situation/coped with the situation by creating these people that she deluded herself to believing were with her. The impact of that might have been too great that the delusion became a permanent constant in her life or something of that sort.
Might fuck around and read the start again just to see if there are any hints or anything sus going on.
It does make me question, how did she survive in that place if it was abandoned and she was all alone in there? It just doesn't nake sense. Who helped her bathe, get ready, who gave her food? She looks healthy and for the most part she seems to be mentally strong.
Or could it be that those maids weren't humans afterall? maybe some other kind of being? Maybe Cecile isn't even completely human and has some other blood mixed into her system, which would explain why she has this certain allure in her as well as why she can do the crazy things that she's done.
