le sigh.... the story wasnt bad -at first-.... but its slowly going down the typical cliches... overpowered protagonists that just get thrown cannon fodder like this old lady.

honestly, if i were to rewrite parts, I would've had the mother succumb to her illness and make use of her as a legacy (as in she can still be a mystery that'll slowly be solved as the main character becomes a better martial artist)

dunno what i'd do with the father, he does come across as a protagonist guy, but he's a bit of a lump of a guy.... maybe id give him some story like he had a well known family but it was cursed and he was too young to know details. ... something instead of making him a side protagonist thats ALSO entering the murim world.

the brother i would've changed into a more corrupted character cus of the sect's doing.

the grandfather I would've had him not stick with the protagonist because now it's just leeway to showoff... which is ok, but there's no drama.(and i'd of course kill him off because we don't need an OP character to overshadow the main character... plus it gives drama for the main character)

personally for me this is really good so far but, killing of parents are huge cliches so are evil siblings. i also like the mc he isnt a dumbass like most shounen mcs

well the mom should've died cus honestly it seems more inevitable when she's been suffering THAT long. I know she became worse after the first child, but when they mentioned she had a second child, I was kinda giving them the side eye. THEN her father shows up.... to not even fix her sooner? like he knows she's ailing... instead he goes on a job with his grandson... wtf.

the dad.... well, honestly if he was killed off, its more to just free the main character, but honestly I didnt consider what to do with him cus he comes across TOOO shonen-y for a dad/side character.

as for the brother, i can acknowledge the brother becoming evil trope... but long lost sibling turned protagonist are oldies but goodies imo.

I just want to say, the parent/mentor dying to create a legacy trope is so overused in both western and eastern stories that there are actually a ton of jokes on it. It just becomes kinda meh at some point.
For example, disney, starwars parents are mostly dead, multiple chinese, japanese and korean stories likes their parents dead too for character motivations too. Like oh, your dead father/mother/guardian was actually someone important!! Oh, here you go, avenge/prove innocence/complete your family's legacy!!!

well... it's not like im saying she would the reason for anything because of her death... I'm just saying she's already on the door AND gave birth to TWO children. honestly, her dying could be the end of it, but since she DOES have some importance in the world of martial arts (more than their dad so far) then ofc her sons would learn more about her though it. (i mean if your parent and their family were trained bakers and you started getting into baking, then ofc you're gonna learn stuff about them from the world of baking... which is what im referring to)

tl;dr she's still from a well reknown family dead or alive and that was the author's decision... im just saying she was within reason already gonna die... but didn't
