What happened?

So like after the car crash, he was at the hospital and all that, his parents died, his sister died, there was a sad part where he went home and it showed his family sitting on the sofa, and the next scene showed it completely empty and dark (his fam died ofc), to then more flashbacks and then it moved to a scene where he was sitting alone cuddled up and it shows that he was drinking and taking pills (?) his aunt saw him though. That isn't the worst part though, it moved towards January 1, 2018 where he was sitting alone once again with a cake slice and a KNIFE??!
and then he put the knife by his neck AS IN THE POINTY TIP and BOOM CLIFFHANGER ╥﹏╥
