Well.. i guess, in the original plot, valrose was just a pawn. Nocton wanted more power and wanted to be seen as "hero", because he punished the "villainess" a.k.a valrose who bullied alice. That way, he can get more power and people sympathy. So, valrose had to die. He didn't have any feeling for valrose, just a mere pawn.
But but but, nocton in this story doesn't really think of valrose as his pawn. He wants power, yes, but not as bad as before. In the present day, he is likely in love with valrose. So, he hates claymore, he doesn't kill because of the promise, he drinks holy water even it's dangerous for him, etc. And i think, the possibility of valrose died like the original plot is quite small.

i think the same,, “Valrose reincarnation ” indeed is different,, and ML maybe fell for the ”current” her contrasting the original novel where ”real valrose” can also be hypnotized/controlled/ordered,, reincarnated valrose has her own personality that influenced Nocton. I also think hypnosis doesnt work on reincarnated valrose.
In the chapter after tea party where nocton and claymore visited valrose in almost exact time,, after leading to the argument where valrose says that claymore, her fiancee is more important to her over nocton,, Nocton answered and called valrose name several times. He was trying to order/hypnotize valrose to follow him by calling her title as how his hypnosis works (because valrose said something akin to “not meeting anymore” and sort of abandoning Nocton because she has claymore in his life) but looks like reincarnated valrose really cant be hypnotized,, she didnt go to nocton's side afterall.

our ML thinks valrose is friends with her because he knew he could hypnotize/order people but since current valrose is isekai'd and got close to nocton on purpose if saving her own life,, i really think our FL cant be ordered/hypnotized,, nocton didnt know tho but he could have a gist since since he cant hear Valrose's thought., if nocton can also read/hear Valrose thoughts everything might have been solved
i dont understand why others are confused,, so lemme give sequential summary to try help,.
basically duroa valrose reincarnated here as villainess that she confirmed after meeting the existence of two persons, nocton and alice when they were younger.
valrose did not much remember the novel (which is fair and actually normal, other isekai FL are really amazing for remembering every sequential plot of story,, supposed its their fave novels maybe thats why they remember clearly)
Since Valrose knew she was the villainess at the least,, she tried to befriend Nocton, who she thinks is the main lead of ”He and Alice” Novel because Nocton would eventually kill valrose for bullying alice, so like, maybe if theyre firends, he wont kill her in the future. ML in the novel has black hair so readers like valrose in her past life thought the ML was nocton and not Claymore (the blonde guy, current fiancee of valrose). She thought itd be easily solved like that,, which is why we have the manhwa title.
So the present Valrose, drink the memoir that returns clear memory, and now she knows that ”Novel valrose” was manipulated to bully alice for some sort of gain that would benefit Nocton. Which is why she was now afraid of nocton. Although i dont think she can be manipulated because Isekai soul benefit., Valrose and Nocton thought that the hypnosis works. And its the reason why Nocton didnt call valrose her name ”Duroa”,, the hypnosis starts by calling the real name in formality. Nocton always call her Valrose because he believe that valrose was only there by his side because of hypnosis, and he was afraid to lose her. Nocton can also sense danger like the tea cup scenes where he made his servant drink tea that valrose poured. The cup is poisoned, even if he wanted to drink it he cant.
Although we saw how angry valrose is because she clearly remembered how nocton plays with her emotion,, she dont have enough confidence in herself to believe she wasnt manipulated,, it was a real thing in original novel after all. Same as Valrose, Nocton also dont have the confidence of Valrose staying with her in her free will. He also dont want to believe that Valrose would understand nocton's hardship (for instance, his mother trying to poison him) at such young age.
Its not simple miscommunication,, they cant just communicate and exchange their truth that easy. Nocton cant say his side about the black magic because its too personal that could endanger his life and maybe valrose too. Valrose also, cant even say that she was from another world because thats very personal that could endanger her life too. Both Nocton and Valrose are walking in thin ice who cant freely communicate.
The current time,, we knew that Nocton probably prevented every engangement towards Valrose with his powers,, Claymore engagement is a fast deal Valrose agreed after being wary of Nocton. Valrose made Nocton promise her that he wouldnt kill anyone so. The Vision of alice from tea party murder-suicide is probably what would happen tho, if Valrose declared she was going to marry claymore in front of Nocton,, if nocton was backed in the corner then he might have hypnotized claymore to do that murder-suicide after knowing/reading the latest chapter in Nocton p.o.v. how he actually adored Valrose but couldnt afford to show it.
The future is fogged because Valrose didnt finish reading the Novel. She was waiting for the Novel chapter's price to be cheaper so she still didnt know the next volume(final volume of 3 books) but she died in the midst and reincarnated not knowing what was the ending/route of the story.
The story is quite good in my opinion,, the possibilities are now open, and it is slowburn but is fast paced in a good pacing/editing which is great. We are literally looking onwards to what was the ending contrary to usual isekai that has their plot introduced from beginning to end. It is a great read.
Im curious of the original ”Him and alice” murder ploy that leads valrose to die, like why??
Claymore also camouflaged in his training in Ernhardt and the topic of mana, so magic indeed exist,, after valrose diving in the novel's world, she know knew that Alice can see future and Nocton is born with black magic who can hypnotize people which she didn't knew before. Looks like magic is just a sideline in main story.
