That dark shadow is such a fucking manipulator. I'm not surprised he got to Anastasius that good cause it looks like he started brainwashing him when he was a kid. Remember when he was just staring into space out in the garden when Claude saw him? Poor kid. And with his mom being all desperado on him about being emperor, pressuring him and shit, he became an easy target. He probably just wanted love. That's why for a brief second you see moments of him being swayed by Jennette’s kindness.
