Seems like the ex still resents that the mc still went and travelled to a war zone in spite of the ex being against it. I think their mindsets just hadn't been compatible from the start, since the mc's POV in chapter 7 suggests that his jobof choice had always put a strain on their relationship, even before the coma, so I think maybe the war zone trip thing wasn't the first time they had a disagreement over this, and maybe the ex had often resented that the mc's job made it so he never had enough time for him, and/or that he was always doing jobs that put him in danger, forcing the ex to always be worried over him.
I don't like how everyone is blaming the MC for being in a coma!! Like where is the empathy??? I get that maybe in the beginning no one knew where he was and they might've thought he was ghosting them but even after finding out what happened they're still blaming him. And he looks so sad all the time, my heart hurts reading this ╥﹏╥
