Yeeees. It's kind of selfish to hope for ex to not move on. Life isn't all hearts and rainbows. Imagine how he felt in that 5 years of not knowing what happened to him. I cant imagine if I'd be sane if I continued holding on. But also yes its understandable for MC to hope. They were still the perfect couple a few weeks ago for him. Both people were put in a bad situation.
Also for the new bf, (if we pretend there's no spoilers) of course it's normal to be insecure when u know your boyfriend still cares deeply.
If I were in any of the three situations, I'd let go lol.

I don't feel its fair to expect the ex to not move on it was clearly traumatic for him so I understand his side. I also understand the mc imagine being unconcious for 5 years and when you wake up your lover has someone else... I'd be heartbroken... but at this point I won't hope they get back together. I just hope mc is able to move on soon so this current situation isnt dragged for a long time, it'd be a pity cuz there's potential.
