Why is that a lot of romance authors like the idea of a romance between step-siblings? Is it because it's like childhood friends trope, but they're even more close? Or sometimes, is it because you're getting super close to someone you just met, so your mind thinks that it's love? Is there anyone who has a strong opinion regarding this topic or just likes this type of trope?

    The ‘romance between step-siblings’ thing makes me uncomfortable.
    I grew up pretty close to my own step siblings, and we always leave out the step bit of it so whenever I read it my mind can’t help but think it’s incest and it’s nasty

    I agree. I also treat my step-sister like my real sister. This also reminds me of "you're not family, because you're not connected by blood" thing. This statement undermines all family bonds between step-siblings or a parent and their adopted child. You don't have to share the same blood to be considered a family
