have people gone mad?

1/ The way Heesoo handled the apology was admirable. I don't see why people start hating on Heesoo. A few chapters ago, everyone was on his side because guess what, Chowon abducted and hired some guys to rape Heesoo. Imagine your rapist comes to you and apologizes because he had mental problems and has now realized he needs treatment. Will you forgive him for the trauma that he inflicted upon you just because he had mental disorders? Can you actually believe his words? Heesoo's reaction (and the other victim's) are relatable. In fact, Heesoo should be given a lot of credits here for accepting Chowon's apology (implicitly), and said he didn't want to see Chowon suffer.

2/ Kyungsoo did what was right. Chowon said those mean things to Kyungsoo, and didn't show him that he meant to change at all, even though we as readers know that wasn't Chowon's true feelings. Heck, Chowon even implied in that conversation that he was still in love with Dojun. Imagine yourself in Kyungsoo's shoes. Some toxic ex called you and said he overdosed and wanted to see you. Would you come to see him?

Chowon was a psychopath and a bitch. He was arrogant (remember how he wiped his hands after touchin Byul?). He was not a nice person, even without his mental illness. What's important, however, is that he's changed for the better. But that doesn't mean that whatever he did is excused or justified, or that his victims are now the villains for not forgiving him immediately because by apologizing, Chowon has only started to atone for his sins. Forgiveness for such a horrendous act does not come easily. He needs to do more than apologizing to truly deserve forgiveness. We all know he will anyway since this is a manhwa lol.

Y'all acting like saints when in reality, y'all would react the same way as Kyungsoo and Heesoo, or maybe even worse.

EDIT: LOL look at rape and abduction apologists disliking this post. Btw, this is not to belittle Chowon's apology. I think it's a momentous development for him. *pat on the back for Chowon because my boy has finally seen the light.*

Woaaa, are you reading my mind perhaps?
I totally agree with all your points!

I agree with everything you said but please avoid labelling people with such heavy names like "apologists". Its fine to call them idiots, fuckers, etc but calling them rape and abduction apologists, you kinda making them sound like almost criminals.

Finally someone said it! Ikr, I'm so done with people criticizing based one what they should've done not what a normal person as flawed human being would do. They're all judging instead of trying to see from their perspective. Kyungsoo is neither a mind reader nor a saint, Heesoo too. I mean, I wouldn't even do what Heesoo did and would refuse to meet Chowon like his other victims if I were almost gotten raped because of him. But I'm also done arguing with people who won't listen so I'd rather keep silence lol.

hey thanks a lot. But also, I must say that I actually think ppl who overlook Chowon's past deeds are apologists bc in a way, they're saying mental disorder can somehow excuse rape and abduction. It's like "Heesoo MUST (not should) forgive him for almost getting him raped" "why? just with an apology? "because... because Chowon is mentally ill, and that made it understandable, and a heartfelt apology suffices"

May I ask why you think these people's logic doesn't resonate with an apologist's?

    Daito December 2, 2020 4:52 pm

I really think it was a good thing that Kyungsoo didn't tolerate Chowon cuz everyone be talking about how he should've been with Chowon when he overdosed himself. Chowon also needs to learn and of course, he also deserves to be happy. We shouldn't blame anyone here tho. They're all doing their best to finally be contented. I'm so happy for everyone.

LOL I find it funny because these people apparently don't attempt to see past the pages. Like if the story is from character A's perspective, anyone who does anything remotely bad to character A is a villain. When the abduction and rape happened, everyone was screaming for Chowon to die. Now that the story is shown from Chowon's perspective, suddenly, everyone else is the villain. I'm pretty sure that if there's another side story that shows the impact of Chowon's disgusting deeds on the psyche and mental well-being of his victims, the same people will start hating on Chowon again.

that's why I skipped a lot of the main couple's chapters ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ with that being said, at least Dojin has done more than just a pure apology to be forgiven. I only ever started following this for Dojun and Heesoo's story. Chowon's side story was also interesting.

I skimmed MC's chapters so can't be sure of memories, but didn't Hyesung run to Heesoo because he wanted to run away from responsibilities and all? Heesoo wanted to send Hyesung away, but Heesoo also didn't know they were bonded, so that didn't count as attempted killing.

hyesung was raped by dojin the moment he presented ending up in an unwated pregnancy wich cause him his own mental illness he stayed on a contract and had post partum depression, he was not on his right mind he was erratic and paranoid, heeso took advantage of it lied to him kpt him locked up told him he was being hunted and that dojin had given the baby away to make sure he wouldn't change his mind about living and he did regret and apologized when he saw hyesung's terrible physical and mental state during and after his heat bc yeah he didn't know they were bonded but even by accident he could have killed them but that's all i took for him to be forgiven by everyone one apology.
then chowon goes through shit does some also terrible shit to heeso himself, goes through more shit as a consequence and apologizes but no one wants to give him the sympathy compassion and understanding they had for dojin and heesung when they were being awful

    got it. A few things:

1/ imo Heesoo's action was not as serious as Chowon's and Dojin's, since emotional manipulation wasn't a crime. Heesoo truly believed Hyesung was only after Dojin's money and only wanted to take advantage of Dojin, so he wanted to send Hyesung away. Plus, as far as I remember, Heesoo broke down in guilt before he could commit the act, which makes Heesoo appear more sincere and believable in Hyesung's as well as readers' eyes than Chowon in Heesoo's eyes.

2/ "Dojin raped Hyesung, and some people are more forgiving about Dojin than about Chowon" - I agree that this is a double standard, and it is bad. However, I'm not sure if I have seen anyone who doesn't "want to give him sympathy or compassion", since most (if not all) of the comments on the sites are supportive of Chowon. Some people are so supportive, in fact, that they started vilifying Heesoo and Kyungsoo for not immediately forgiving Chowon with an apology. This is what I was criticizing in my original comment. Therefore, the whole double standard thing doesn't apply to my post. Even if such a double standard exists, it remains true that Heesoo should not be criticized.

3/ It seems that you think Chowon deserves forgiveness more than Dojin and Heesoo because he already reaped what he sowed and had mental illness. I disagree. A person deserves forgiveness only when they repent and atone. Heesoo did both. I can't remember if DJ ever apologized bc I wasn't invested in the main couple. Chowon clearly repented, but only took the first step towards atoning by apologizing. He has to prove to his victims that he has truly changed, which is precisely why Heesoo didn't give him the satisfaction of being easily forgiven.

TLDR: forgiveness for heinous acts like rape and abduction: saintly
victims not ready to forgive: understandable
chowon: deserves forgiveness in readers' eyes bc we know for a fact he's changed
chowon: most likely does not deserve forgiveness in victims' eyes unless he proves to them that he has really changed
Dojin deserving forgiveness for rape with an apology: bad
Dojin deserving forgiveness now after all he's done for Hyesung: debatable. depends on victims' own philosophies.
double standard: bad but does it exist?
