ok so when the king was looking for someone to transfer over to... he just so happened to find him. the king saw that he was hella determined even though he was so weak. you know that guy with the creepy smile and wings? yea he worked for the king and created to system and he was like” that guy??? he so weak! are you gonna take that gamble????” and the king was like hell yea. he made the entire room just for him to slowly level up and shit. they also made it game based cuz they said that humans enjoy playing games and leveling up. it was also a way for him to get access to the skills the king had. the king never expected him to level up so far so now they became one. you know? kinda like 2 in 1 shampoo. :)

ok so now two have become one so he has all the properties of the shadow lord, aka the king. towards the end of his “slumber” he talks with the king and he tells him that they have become two and yata yata. so now he also has his enteral life... he can change what he looks like too i’m pretty sure... so he can make himself look older and younger. so he defeats the enemies. he ends the conflict... however there are SOO many deaths so he talks to the big guy. the big boss ... he learns that they can turn back time, but that turns back memories too. so he like ok i’ll take one for the team and end it before it even starts. but he would lose his troops... or so he thought... he had to lose like half of his troops but it was worth it. he found love and had a kid... imma not spoil that part tho i can guess who...uhmmm the kid is hella strong too and has his powers and he basically tests his kid to see if he would pass on his powers. now that’s just a summary please read the rest of the manga or read the novel... ITS SOOOO GOOD and the fights are cool too
The shadow monarch is finding a host so he can go to earth and fight for the coming war of monarchs and the rulers which are the angels, so for the shadow sovereign get a proper host he ordered the architect of the system to find a strong wiled person, so he can tolerate the too much power of the true shadow monarch asborne, and as the search for a proper host residing, the shadow monarch noticed the sufferings of sung jinwoo amidst death so he lured him using the double dungeon and start to train and build him into a strong host so he can take over the body of sung jinwoo someday but as he is with jinwoo with use of black heart he started to feel something he never felt before, and so he gave his full power to jinwoo and made him the new shadow sovereign but in order to do that he needs to go to the world of nothing where he has fallen from being a brilliant fragment of light or being an angel

We all totally got it right
I think the formal shadow master soul was extracted into our MC .... So he became both without realising it.
Hence the two heart....
Think about it ... When the MC was bout to die (probably the old shadow lord was dying too) so in other to save his soul it was put in someone eals body) MC was given the opportunity to become a new person...like U do in a game and in other for his physical body to match his new soul he was made to train hard and texted on several occasions.... Until he was fit to become the shadow master. But he was not having any memory of his previous life which we just saw, hence the awaken of the King as the bastard said.
