He actually didn't doubt Keira is his daughter but since she has no power spirit and the prophecy told the one who doesn't have the power would bring the country into ruin, he killed he for the sake of the country. The other girl actually his unborn child that turn into devil cause his wife made contract with the devil. she is pregnant when she accused of being infertile and kicked out from the house by Keira grandfather and the duke didn't bother to investigate cause he is 'neutral'.
He also the one who turn back the time, after the devil wreak havoc the country, not because he want to bring back Keira to life but for the sake of the country, he want to prevent the tragedy, but because the magic imperfect, he doesn't remember the future like Keira, he only dream about it.
I don't even know how to feel about this. On one hand, he tried what was best for the country (meaning, he was doing whatever he could to save millions of people) but on the other hand: THAT'S YOUR DAUGHTER, YOU FUCK FACE. You'd think that he would at least do whatever he can to save her, since she's his kid, instead of just shrugging and accepting it because she appears not to have any magic. Especially because he knows she's his daughter, so there was still a small possibility that she might still have the power spirit. I can't imagine not doing everything I can when it's a matter of life and death for my kid.
awwh, how sweet that hes showing affection... idgaf i wouldnt ever forget how my father ordered my execution because he thought i was illegitimate (how could i control that...) also he showed a random girl more affection than your own child after a couple of years of knowing her. i really hope he remembers the crap he did because it seems like he came back in time too or had a dream about what had actually happened.
