The Jiang clan gets killed by the wens. Only Jiang cheng, wei Ying and yanli survives. They go into hiding. On the other hand lan clan also gets destroyed by wens...a war starts where wens try to conquere the world. Shit happens wei Ying gets thrown into burial mounds he becomes evil. On the other hand lan clan jiang chang and other clans join forces to kill the wens however they fail. Evil wei ying come to save the day. WY's temperament starts to get disturbed. Lan zhan and wei ying's relationship decorates. Too much shit happens plot thickens, new characters are introduced. Wen Ning makes and his sister make entrance. With time the cultivation world including jiang cheng turns against wei ying for being evil. Our baby Gets killed. Lan zhan mourns then after 16(?) years wei ying is resurrected in the body of mo.

He doesn't actually turn evil, most people just see him as evil. Of he was truly evil he wouldn't have remembered what the Wen Siblings did and protected them, fully becoming a pariah.
