Yes. He loses her because of her mom. She saw that he belonged to the future and when she saw that, she saw that both died. So she tried to hide her away.

It's sad that the future she saw is her daughter and the duke's past, if she just had enough magic as a witch at that time maybe she'll know that it was the past then she wont hide Erin/Noel anymore...
