I share your sentiment, but, at the same time, the (assumed) bonds between a child and a parent (a mother) are not the same as those between siblings. And I think she was mostly angry because from their (her + their mom) perspective it looked like he just killed a person and that's it - doesn't want ti say why, how it happened, why was the girl there, or anything. It would make anyone feel frustrated because you feel like you're suffering because of somebody else's crime and that person (a family member) doesn't even want to "explain" himself.
Either way, I'm not defending anybody, just saying that I can see why'd she react in the way she did.
