I actually went on a youtube dive which was very enlightening. I complete understand what you mean though. It's a joke between my friends that anime bois are better than real life bois but that sort of thing aint very healthy.

I don't think staying inside the 'fake' world was the best thing she could do. Psychologically it's pretty messed up.
But she was devoid of any kind of joy in the 'real' world, had nothing that made her truly happy. Even if it's fake, she gets to choose that fake happiness over real monotony.
