And now this new young guy comes along so Okuzono stops and says goodbye to Yamashiro? As in... Okuzono is now interested in the young guy or? Correct me if I'm wrong, that's how I understood it.

I guess you're right. It' my understanding that Okuzono likes the new guy enough to be able move on from Yamashiro, and since p. 35 they said goodbye to each other, I guess it's over between Okuzono and Yamashiro. And I think he knew the plan between Yamashiro and the new guy from the start.
