I think he invited Haebom first because he knows Taesung will step in and takes his place that's why he didn't complain and insist on Haebom. He goes after Taesung because he figured out he's rich and dropped the idea of Haebom because he found out Haebom's adopted. Also, he figured out about Taesung and Haebom's relationship because of the ring incident.
