So him and the empress had an arranged marriage and he already had a girlfriend/ someone he loved per say. So the empress let them see each other still . So there was no cheating involved and since estellas mom died they don’t remember that ever like happening. But the empress is super nice to her and treats her like her own child which is really sweet.
