It's true that he could've handled the rejecting better, instead of publically shaming her, but he's not wrong here. How does the princess expect to be taken on a rough journey when she cant even take care of her basic needs? Besides, shes royalty, if she gains even a scratch, the consequences will be tremendous for the people who took her. The kingdom cant just handle the loss of the only royal heir, all because she's bored..
