He does what his father does thats why he had sex with him and now he wonders ( and hopes) if his father is in love with his partner because he'll just go and fall in love with moonhyuk (since he's imitating his father)

He also showed that the hermit crab that he once owned in the past that died without a shell.

It tells you that he is the hermit crab and his father is the shell.

So he was hoping that his father was also in love with his partner because he feels like he's still in the shell and still imitating his father cause he felt like he's gonna "die" (not literally I guess) if he didnt thought of that. (since he's gonna do what his father didn't do and that'll lead to him going out of the shell)
