Rape ain't brand new

"Rape" is lowkey part of yaoi culture....And Everybody in this manga are rapists even Taesung....the only reason yall don't see Taesung as a rapist is because the author made the uke act all horny suddenly and made Taesung "angel" and "nice" suddenly

Yall the same ones who love Seungho from painter of the night and ship him with Nakyum even though he raped him everyday...

Yeah bro ..... I agree . Agree with Sengho too .
Tho I do think Taesung is like 1% better than Seungho. They're both assholes tho .

Although Taesung is a flawed character I don't recall him ever raping Sooyoung, can you point to the chapter where he sexually assaulted him against his will? I might've forgotten due to all the assholes around Sooyoung. I don't think most readers think anyone here with the exception of Sooyoung is an angel but they seem his character improving. But I agree that many people will also see him in exaggerated good light because he's much better than the typical, aggressive seme;his flaws become next to nil for most lol. And yes the rape trope is very common but it doesn't mean it won't get discussed in yaoi nonetheless. Particularly, if the story seems to have depth, artistic value and isn't pwp then many readers like myself would be curious to see how sexual violence along with other dark subject matters are gonna be handled in the story.

Taesung was threatening the uke, he told him to pay his body if he doesn't have money so the uke had no choice but to do it in ch 11 and then Taesung is acting all aggressive during sex in ch 11n 12, his behavior here, if he was a side character, everybody would've called him trash and cancel him...here's the problem, in the beginning, the uke hated having sex and relying on someone, he had depression and wanted to be independent and strong but SUDDENLY he became horny/freak and trusted Taesung and want to relay on him, and
Taesung was an asshole in the beginning but now they made him a saint..Like i don't even hate them, i like all the characters even Minhyeok but yaoi fandom are always hypocrite.

Uke had no choice. Really, I don't think SY is the type of uke to succumb to the having no choice but to do something. He was angry because of what the ex bf did and provoked taesung by blurting out you said I should offer my body to pay the debt let's go and have the sex then. Taesung took up the challenge and had sex with him, it was rough, yeah but the uke was the one that said it. SY doesn't hate sex at all. I don't know where you got that from. He just doesn't like depending on people too much. Taesung gave him that and allowed him to look for a job by himself to pay the debts. You could see Sooyoung's expression whenever taesung does something out of ordinary. Taesung changed because he realised he knows sooyoung. We saw a glimpse of them in high school. What happened then might have left a big impression on taesung. I don't like minhyuk because he treats the fuck buddy badly. I know he is a mafia and that type os attitude is expected.

Well, Taesung threatened, beat, and blackmailed him...Both Taesung and Minhyuk are trash but Taesung is the main character so the author needed to make an angel while Minhyuk is a side character, the author doesn't care about him enough to make him nice. That's the difference. I like Taesung and Minhyuk more when they're treat people like shit because that's who they really are but Taesung acting all nice is unrealistic and forced to me

    Water December 9, 2020 8:19 pm

Taesung isn't a mean guy to begin with. If you check a part where we saw a flashback where the guy that stabbed the uke called him weak and that he has always been weak. And in high school, the uke beat him up too. So i don't think he is naturally a mean person. His environment forced him to act tough and mean. So it is not surprising that he is acting all nice with sooyoung.

Oh that chapter! Nope, Sooyoung wasn't raped. He consented to have sex with Taesung who made it clear as daylight since their first meeting that he wants to bang him. While Sooyoung enjoys sex (which has been made clear many times throughout the webtoon), his first time having sex with Taesung (not rape) was a culmination of all the insult and abuse Seungho heaped upon him in the past. He was altogether angry, hurt, humiliated and he lost his home. He gave up on himself after Seungho physically assaulted him, sth his abusive father did and now Seungho did what freaked him out the most. And most of all he was also deeply hurt that Seungho accused him of cheating and being some kind of man-whore. So in that moment with Taesung who found him in that beaten up state, Sooyoung just lost it and got more angry that this thug who he apparently "cheated" with was trying to take care of him and was all super concerned for him. He was distrustful due to his initial bad impression of Taesung and he thought this thug couldn't possibly want to actually help him and also add that he felt goaded by Seungho to just do as he said - spread his legs and be a "slut". So he challenged Taesung who was more like - wowow, hold up man. But yeah he was super into Sooyoung so he didn't hold back and they had sth like an ego-war in the bedroom. Sooyoung also bruised Taesung's ego with his disregard for him so the seme egged him to continue and they ended up having really intense sex that Sooyoung ended up enjoying more than his ego would let him admit. What's interesting about this webtoon is that all the sex scenes aren't just pointless sex scenes, the author is telling a story by explaining the mental state and the emotional changes of the characters through the sex scenes. Sooyoung also feels calmed and enjoys the sex with Taesung who genuinely loves him unlike those horrible times with seungho who would force him all the time.

Also, you're taking what Taesung says too literally, this is also what Sooyoung often did at the start. This is not bl fandom being hypocritical but more to do with characterization and story-telling. As you mentioned Taesung talks like a gangster all the time but he doesn't mean it when it comes to Sooyoung. He hasn't been portrayed as an angel either because he clearly goes around destroying other bystanders and clients left and right. He brings up the shit about selling his body but it's all mostly empty, dirty talk on his part because of his ego (Sooyoung mostly denies him and he showed for a long while in the beginning that he only cares about Seungho), his mob boss persona where he's used to talking to people in a threatening manner, and his stupid ass can't just openly admit he wants Sooyoung. His act falls apart pretty quickly tho lol. It has also been implied a few times throughout the story that Taesung and sooyoung know each other from long ago but they don't really remember and it's still left to be properly explored in the story. Taesung is also a yakuza-like loan-shark thug so we're not gonna see him talk sweet and use flowery language from the get go, he talks like a dirty caveman.

This story is also all about first impressions (how they don't define a person and the story explores who they actually are through the eyes of Sooyoung), going through paradigm shifts and it's an important aspect of the story. Seungho, despite sexually assaulting him, was seen as this good figure for a longtime because he smiled, petted him and was just "loving" him according to Sooyoung who had no one. This was one of the reasons why he had a hard time letting go of Seungho because he deluded himself into thinking he was being loved. He had a rough relationship with Taesung from the get-go due to his first bad impression of him. Taesung didn't know about his injury, he only knew about his dirtbag father who left behind all those debts so being who he is he beat Sooyoung up. He saw sooyoung initially as just another dude whose family failed to pay him back and they started off on the wrong foot. But when Taesung seemed to recognize him, understand Sooyoung's stubborn personality and also realized he was hurt he started slowly backing off. His violent persona also disappeared so quickly which confused Sooyoung a lot who held onto his first impression of him. Out of all of them Taesung changed his first wrong impression of Sooyoung the quickest. In the case of Minhyuk we get another first false impression as he's shown as this angelic-looking, naïve dude from Sooyoung's perspective. We get to see that he's actually some yandere psychopath but the uke has yet to discover that. Hence, all the misunderstandings, distrust of the uke led up to the whole rough beginning to their physical relationship which was consensual.

I've no idea why I'm writing an essay, it clearly doesn't need to be this long, confusing mess and I noticed that @Water stated all the things I've been trying to say much more clearly and briefly( ̄∇ ̄") Ima head out(⊙…⊙ )

I was really mad when i saw your respond, i'm like who tf gon read all of that Lmfao..but anyway,
I understand why Teasung became nice and why the uke started to like him..i like both and I ship them but my point was that they rushed it, like the author made the uke trust the seme easily and that's i don't like...my other point was that this hypocrite yaoi fandom is always rooting for a trash character while calling another character a trash. For example, they like Seungho from PON when he rapes Nakyum everyday but they wanna cancel Minhyuk for sexually assaulting...this what turns me off

Ya like for my opinion can we not forget that this is a fiction? What u don in a fiction is not wat u gonna do in real life (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

    zyixings December 10, 2020 1:16 am

You have a point but the thing is, this is fiction, as long as this isn't based on true story nor we apply these things we read in real life then we're all good. Some people prefers reading fucked up stories as a way to pass time (or in my situation, its my stress reliever), if it's not you're cup of tea, it's wiser to close the tab and read another manga which doesn't have rape nor any triggering scenes.

Damn I just noticed I mixed up all the names from different webtoons and I kept referring to Jisung who was Sooyoung's ex in this story as Seungho all this time lmao. Right, I totally forgot that Seungho was that ass from POTN. I was talking about just the characters of Legs that won't walk the whole time. Okay, I see your point about the hypocrisy and what you're saying definitely has truth to it. Also, anyone who is saying Seungho isn't a rapist is delusional despite the context of the story-setting. At the same time I don't think most readers deny that but there are many reasons as to why they're more sympathetic to Seungho than Minkyuk who is merely a supporting character here and we don't explore much of who he is here other than the guy who attacked Sooyoung when he was passed out drunk. What you brought up is actually a really interesting topic of discussion. However, man POTN is another whole ass essay and I was about to start writing one but nope....i must stop.
