well yes— but no. before the whole villainess trope came in, im pretty sure the heroine was usually a poor person/commoner and the male lead was a rich boi. in most cn dog blood novels there are villainesses who DO fall into ruin after offending the fl and ml.
but nowadays the villainess trope is more popular since watching the transmigrated person go through struggles is satisfying ig.
with all these 'reborn as the villainess in an otome' novel springing out one by one, i can't help but wonder...
are stories about 'the heroine being abused by the villainess & then the heroine marries the male lead & the villainess falls into ruin' really that common of a plot for light novels out there? i don't read light novels, so i don't know.
can someone enlighten me...?
