Yes it is safe if done very carefully and properly. It MUST be sterilised (which is why the guy wore gloves) and you must use TONS of lube so that it doesn't get stuck (which he also did). There is a chance of injuring tissues if you aren't careful but if you know what you are doing and are very careful then it is something many people safely enjoy :) I've never done it lol but I've done lots of research because I was also curious like you
