Ultimately it was probably better that they left immediately, such is the case with escaping from an abusive household.

They couldn’t have stopped by her room and let her throw on some clothes before they made their dramatic exit? All I can think about is them riding through various villages with her in her scandalous night clothes and bare feet. Never mind the standards of dress at the time, I’d be embarrassed even now running around in my jammies
