Agreed...but my personal issue with caring too much about the original story, however, isn't how they would change it, but how they change things and then try to keep the plot back on track and are willing to sacrifice their happiness (e.g. so that the ML can end up with some FL of the original plot). But, things changed and plot deviated, so why did they suddenly become insecure? Like our female protags. start getting all bittersweet about what they think their future without the ML will be like. I think that's why I liked some villainess stories where they're more about surviving and actively wanting change.
