If I’m understanding him, he was talking about when he was having his first seizure. He interpreted her look of horror at his situation as hate. So vocally she never said anything (thus her confusion), but in a way, physically she did; and that’s what upset him. And frankly the fact that she keeps calling for her “brother” does suggest that she is rejecting the demon.

I thought that made the most sense--that Anette was the only one born, and the Mom freaked about not providing an heir and turned to the demon, and thus "John". And about the love thing... I think he's loved her since they were children. Just look at the way he looked at Anette while they were playing chess in the shit brother's PV chapter. He wasn't watching the game, he was gazing at Anette.
Which makes sense--'Mom' was probably terrified of him, but Anette played freely and LOVED freely. They wrestled and fought and cuddled. Anette holds nothing back, and is brave and hot-tempered. How many opportunities would a demon have to experience that?? He's probably been besotted and lovesick this whole time.

I agree with everything you stated here. I usually stay away from stories that even have a little incest in them but this was so compelling that I couldn't resist. It makes it better for me that they're not even related so that's cool but from how everything else in the story is fucked up that the incest was the least of its problems. I feel for Annette and understand completely how she would even come to love her brother to the extent that she does given the shit that has happened to her her whole life. I'm loving this story and will continue to read it because it's so good.

They are not siblings. They are not blood related either. Don't worry. Apparently there was no brother at all - the MC never had a twin. The mother made a deal with the devil because she needed a male heir. The devil transformed into the son and is very possessive of the MC and cares about her. The 'son' is not human, that's why they're not related AT ALL.
Anyway, I love how realistic this old society is this in manhwa. It's dark, fucked up and crazy. Man, the author did such a good job.
