That probably referred to the old society belief that a woman of breeding should just lay still while her husband mounted her, where as a paid woman or a mistress enjoyed herself and liked the act of sex. A lady only endured sex to give her husband an heir, they aren't supposed to like it. So, the fact that Alphonse loved his wife and didn't seek a mistress could only mean Chloe wasn't a lady in the bedroom.
