hi! So i just wanted to tell you, it's okay to enjoy things as long as you don't go overboard. I know how you feel since some of my friends are gay and them knowing me liking bl things make them uncomfortable, but after some times, and another explanation, they could understand and it's okay to enjoy things you like! The yaoi/bl/shojo-ai exists for people like us, same like hentai, it's okay! like i said, as long as you won't go overboard, like shipping a close friend of yours or a real people, then it's a no no. as long as you could draw between what is "okay" and not "okay", what is "fictional" and what is "real". But if it's the "sex scenes" that makes you uncomfortable, then you could read shonen-ai/light bl themed instead :D

sorry, im just jumping in here. there are some bl that do sexualise gay relationships (those tend to be the ones with loads of sex or very explicit, or ones that romantise things that shouldn't be romanticized, for example) but there's others that don't (like this one), like a nice romance manga or even manga where a sex scene is written/drawn about. shounen ai are the best for you since you dont like sexual scenes and tbh they are the best ones to read (if you want to avoid reading manga that sexualises gay relationships). not all bl fetishise day relationships though. if that helps/makes sense

Bruh....You do know that most real gay people.....have sex right?!?!??!
That's such Christian puritan thinking....Gay people aren't "pure uwu babies", they can fuck a lot and fuck hard. Your argument is so BS especially when the same tropes you call "fetishising" and "romanticising" can be found in straight romances/porn too.

I think what people mean when they're talking about "fethishising gay people" they mean (usually straight) girls who exclusively read/watch gay porn, Fantasize about gay men having Sex and only (keyword here is ONLY) care about gay men because they think that them having sex is hot. This is the same thing as Men watching lesbian porn and seeing lesbians only as something "sexy" instead of Real people.

Yeah but like just call them what they are - homophobes. Most people who read BL aren't straight anyway, so why say that -BL- in particular "fetishises"/"romanticises" gay relationships? People call things fetishising so easily nowadays. Yaoi is porn, and porn is meant to be sexy and hot.
Though I can understand why girls prefer BL over GL or HL. As someone who reads all three, majority of GL and HL lack passion that BL has. A lot of straight couples just get together because it's the "default option", and a lot of GL is too vanilla and the dynamic is just "we're nice to each other/bffs", there's no tension at all. Also, in HL girls have to worry about misogynistic portrayals of women and tropes that possibly trigger their experience with irl sexist men, which they don't have to worry about when reading BL because they can detach themselves from the situation. Moreover, plenty of "girls" who read BL may discover they're non-binary or trans men, so let's not generalise too much.
Again, as long as they treat irl gay men with respect, I'm all for women reading BL.

oh my god, i never said that all bl with sex was fetishising so let's just stop right there. straight porn/lesbian porn manga that do the same was not the topic of conversation so why the fuck would i bring it up?? i mentioned that SOME bl manga that are packed with sex do fetish gay relationships, and it's the truth so i dont understand your point. yeah some dont but some do which was what I was saying. i dont understand why the fuck anyone mentions that there are cases of fetishisation when it comes to some boy x boy manga people start flipping shit. it's the truth - a lot do, idc.
and back to what i was talking about i mentioned shounen ai to op because they said they found manga with sex uncomfortable for them so again i dont see your point.
I hope this doesn't have sex scenes, im liking this but sex scenes make me uncomfortable ☹ aslo every time there is a sex scene i fell like im fetishizing gay relationship and that's not something i want to do
